Rebel warrior Hung Hei-Kwun (Jet Li) returns home to find almost everyone in his village massacred by soldiers. The only survivor is his son Hung Man Ting (Miu Tse) and together they set out seeking revenge. Kwun soon discovers that the court has posted a reward for him and his blood brother Ma Ling-Yee (Chuen-Hua Chi) is out to collect the bounty. A battle between the two ensues and believing he has killed Yee, Kwun continues on his revengeful quest. For seven years Kwun and Ting roam China pursuing revenge and along the way found themselves defending the weak. When a Shaolin Temple and its riches are threatened, Kwun and Ting are called upon to protect the five pupils who hold the secret to the treasures of the Ming Dynasty. This also involves protecting a wealthy Lord from swindlers Red Bean (Chingmy Yau) and her Mother (Deannie Yip). Meanwhile, the Monk of the West District saved Yee’s life years before by submersing him in poison which transformed him into a supernatural creature. When Yee hears about the treasure and Hwun’s involvement he sets out to confront Hwun in a battle to the death.
