The life of Ip Man (Donnie Yen), Bruce Lee’s martial arts master and Wing Chun martial arts pioneer, is detailed in this biopic set in the first half of the 20th century. All aspects of the Master’s eventful life are recreated, from his days in Foshan, China, participating in friendly competition in the art of Wing Chun, to his family’s reaction to the Japanese invasion of 1937, to his establishment of the first Wing Chun school in Hong Kong.
