Agent Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and agent Taylor (Mathew Fox) are in the line of fire protecting the president of the United States, who is attending a global summit in Spain to resolve world terrorism. Agent Barnes had taken a bullet for his president a year ago. Amidst the tight security a shooter manages to take down the president followed by a series of bomb explosions through the venue. Mayhem breaks loose. The film loops over and over this situation explaining how the events unfold from the perspective of various people. People are blackmailed, conned and misled as the entire incident unfolds through the eyes of people involved. Rex Brooks (Sigourney Weaver) a television news producer visualizes the incident through her camera crew covering the summit. Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker), an American tourist believes that he has captured the shooter on his video camera draws his attention to Agent Barnes who in the midst of all the chaos tries to get to the bottom of the conspiracy.
